Confederacy and The Cross

I want to put in Words how God put on my heart to view all The Confederacy memorials that are being destroyed.

When I see them I’m reminded Someone had to die to garner my People’s Freedom. They fought a battle to continue my slavery but those men, mostly and symbols were defeated. A PEOPLE WHO KNEW GOD and waited for His Rescue, WON! These symbols represent a God who is Just, Holy and His Will is accomplished in His Time, for His purpose.

They are a beautiful Symbol of reconciliation. Not that they, themselves represent that beauty, but as they stand we remember the North had no desire for a divided Union. With the heart of Christ they were conciliatory. These reminders paint a full picture of a battle fought and won by the North, offering Slaves, mostly Black, Emancipation. A battle lost, by the South, but received an offer, to be united. A desire to find a way to become One Nation Under God, was a Victor offering an open hand to the defeated.

When I see those Confederate Symbols, I see humility, forgiveness and reconciliation. It saddens me that the destructive ideation of the Left and their choice of destruction over education and respect for a history where pain was overcome by the healing of a Nation.

Today Lord thank you for Your reminder of humility, forgiveness and reconciliation, by crosses worn around necks, on gravestone and sights, that pop up on billboards and so on. They are vestiges of a Work done long ago, on One rugged cross. The work of the restoration of a sinful people to Their Creator. The cross also symbolizes the work of forgiveness, offered to those who reveal it not cringe worthy but humbling. Those who turn from Sin to Eternal Life. A Cross stands for The Father’s willingness and desire to be reconciled to those who were lost due to one man’s sin, and would continue losing if they didn’t or don’t surrender. Those who look at it as something to despise miss the purpose and miss such a great victory story of an act of sacrifice that brought a great win. Many want and do tear down crosses too. So many choose not to see the history and work that offers life.

Lord I pray that the caterwauling of a few, and I believe it is a few, though they seem ubiquitous will be defeated. We need to remember The defeat of The South was your Justice over Injustice. We need to remember the Victory of the North, but more importantly their heart to reconcile. The heart of God to show Mercy.

Help us walk with that heart, this Monday morning and into our week.

In the Powerful name of Jesus, who lost all to Offer us freedom, and Reconcil us to The Father. Even, Emancipation, that, from our sin.

Amen

If you hate what’s going on remember we serve a God who sees the destruction, may be the instigator so his people will humble themselves and Pray. And after all is said and done we, God’s people can be those who choose to reconcile.
