Obedience? Why Not So Serious?

Obedience only seems taboo when it comes to Scripture. In fact, so is Submission.

Here’s a question I ask those who work for someone, do you show up when you want? Do you do whatever you want? The answers are, “NO.” Ok, that was two questions but they make one point. There’s not much struggle for most with this line of obedience and submission.

Now you realize obedience and submission is a matter of the will. Your will. With your employer you’re willing without even saying you love him or her. Yet, we resist what God calls us to. We say, “no” to many things, just because we don’t prefer the commands that rub us the wrong way. Stay in that marriage; don’t give in to your children and let them stay home from church, date that non Christian person; (if your children say they are Christian). Don‘t build your treasures on earth; fast, pray, meditate on the word, study. Don’t look at that woman to lust for her. Don’t covet your neighbors husband, or home. Walk by The Spirit and not fulfill the lust of your flesh. No to ungodly and sinful anger, gluttony, laziness, on and on.

That list is probably making many uncomfortable because there are some you’d like to dispute. Dispute is not be on the list. Just like with a secular boss there may be questions, but in the end the final word is not yours, but the one to whom you and I submit.

It is that serious.

Such a conundrum😏
