Reflection in the Mirror

When was the last time, you can remember, God brought the mirror of his word up to show you the reflection of your sin or rebellion? God wants you to look, acknowledge and then turn from sin back to him. Instead of repentance you responded like Cain. Responding with blame, deflection or sarcasm. That reveals a hardened heart. No one ever comes out well in a hardened state. “Sin crouches at the door; its desire is for you,” in other words, it desires to master you. You have a choice when shown the reflection of rebellion through his word. If you choose wrong, sin begins to master you.

God's laws don't change because we don't like them. Neither will he accept that we love something or someone more than him. Enough to make that something or someone our idol. We don’t neglect his holiness without consequence. We don’t get to ask forgiveness over permission. Neglecting obedience over our preference for his mercy. That says it more biblical.

God is patient with us. He shows us our reflection so he can lovingly redirect us. Sometimes it takes a large fish, sometimes he’s gracious and we move on with only a lesson that doesn’t cause us to need a bath. One thing God will not to do with his children is neglect their sin, unintentional or presumptuous. Neither are acceptable and both must be revealed and brought to the alter of the cross and abandoned to his blood. Then new life in that area of old sin resurrects in righteousness.

God is HOLY and while His longsuffering is "LONG" it does eventually run into JUSTICE. When God asks through conviction, or conscience, to reflect on how you’re living it is not for Him; It is for you and me. The mirror may reflect sin or rebellion don’t neglect what you’re being shown.

How will you answer?
